2010 BUSY YEAR AT CCD

The year so far has been a hectic but satisfying one for Curtis Customs, with lots of projects large and small moving through the Radical Garage.  As fall approaches with even more custom jobs in the works, we thought we'd post some of our favourite builds from 2010 so far.

1st Annual Radical Rides Car Show - Elmsdale Superstore, Saturday July 31

Super summer weather certainly brought out the crowds for our first annual car show in Elmsdale and response from the show car owners was overwhelming.  Display space had to be quickly expanded into the host's parking lot and a festival air prevailed as car lovers strolled the site, enjoying CCD's show prize donation...food, raffles, live music, lots of prizes and of course FAN-tastic cars of from every class and era! Prizes included $500 cash & a CCD custom wrench coffee table...

sorry about the shakes folks, shooting one-handed up a swaying two story ladder really requires a steady-cam!

July 2010 - Our Radical New 'License Plate' Signs have proved to be instant eye-catchers from the minute they were installed by Tremblay Signs.  The massive Nova Scotia plate identifies CCD as 'Canada's Other Playground', our web address, and the sticker establishes the year we opened.

At the end of the shop building, we've also installed reproductions of a Texas plate along with the iconic Maritime provinces plates, identifying the main services you'll find in our Shop.

July 12 - Gene Winfield gives Tool Truck a Facelift - After several years of demos and a car show or two, our famous yellow tool truck had a few bumps and scrapes and Curtis decided it was time for a bit of a facelift.  But the job was tricky as he wanted it done in time for a special event at CCD and the shop was even busier than usual.  What to do?  Gene Winfield to the rescue!  When Gene contacted Curtis to let him know he'd have a one day lay-over in Nova Scotia after his headlining appearance at the Moncton Nationals July 9 to 12, and that Curtis could 'put him to work', the solution was a no-brainer.  (Gene's just a real good guy and wanted to do a favour for Vernon Hensby, Curtis's favourite  paint specialist, who was invaluable to Gene's workshops here in April during our Opening Week.)  Curtis, Vern and the whole Radical crew were delighted to see Gene again and made sure he wasn't bored waiting around for his flight out!  Here are some photos of this private makeover of our iconic yellow truck.

Driving Directions

We're easy to find and just minutes up the road from Halifax Stanfield International Airport; we're visible from Highway 102.

From the 102 TransCanada headed north away from Halifax and towards Truro, take Exit 8 at Elmsdale.  Turn left at the lights at the top of the off ramp, cross the overpass, and take an immediate left at the next set of lights by the Elmsdale Superstore.  Follow Park Road into the Business Park and turn left onto Industrial Way.  Finally left into our paved lot at #20 Industrial Way; you can't miss our Radical red roof!  - map  satellite photo
